Scholarships

WGA manages several scholarships for those who are seeking new opportunities.

  • STEVE CHAMPLIN SCHOLARSHIP
    • The Steve Champlin Scholarship, established in 1985, helps support financially-needy geology seniors and first-year graduate students at universities throughout the Rocky Mountain region. The first award was presented in 1991.   

  • J. DAVID LOVE FIELD GEOLOGY FELLOWSHIP
    • This Fellowship is awarded to a graduate student conducting geological field research in the Rocky Mountain region The first award was given in 1988.

  • GENE GEORGE PETROLEUM GEOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP
    • For junior, senior or graduate geoscience majors enrolled at Casper College or the University of Wyoming. The scholarship was established in 2011 and the first award given in 2014.    

  • WOLD YOUTH FELLOWSHIP
    • This Fellowship supports activities, projects and field trips for  K-12 for geological education. (contact WGA for more information; can apply for anytime)

OTHER SCHOLARSHIPS (please contact school for application):

  • CASPER COLLEGE MEMORIAL
    • For a geology or earth-science student at Casper College. First awarded in 1973.                 
  • S.H. KNIGHT
    • For a junior, senior or graduate student enrolled at the University of Wyoming Department of Geology & Geophysics. First awarded in 1980.
